Fab. : glassfab., waxfab.,soapfab, un projet et une collection proposés par la designer Matali Crasset. C'est une collection d’objets en verre, cire et savon, réalisés par des grands créateurs internationaux et édités par la Gandy Gallery (Prague). A travers ce projet, Matali Crasset a voulu perpétuer des savoir-faire artisanaux, menacés de disparition pour des raisons économiques en République Tchèque. Suivant une volonté d’échanges et de rencontres, Matali Crasset a fait appel à des créateurs de disciplines variées : architectes, artistes, designers. Elle leur a proposé de créer des objets selon différentes thématiques. Le résultat de ce projet est une collection unique « entre-deux » : entre l’Art et l’usage. L’ensemble de cette collection sera réunie dans un livre, édité à l’occasion de l’exposition. Fab. réunit des propositions de : Volker Albus, Emmanuel Bourrouse, Matali Crasset, Oscar Diaz, Joseph Grigely, Fabrice Gyg,i Stéphane Magnin, Jakob & Mac Farlane, Sonia Marques, Mathieu Mercier, Yves Netzhammer, Olgoj Chorchoj, Jérôme Olivet, Bruno Peinado, Zuzana Ponicanova, Maroussia Rebecq, Tobias Rehberger, Ron Orb, Denis Santachiara, Tatiana Trouvé, Maxim Velcosky, Vogt + Weizenegger, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Bernhard Willhelm.

fab• is the Gandy gallery collection, based in Prag, Czech Republic. This projet initiated by Matali Crasset is in continuation of the 2002 edition of “Sunic”, a cristal perfum diffusor. fab• illustrates our interest in exchange, encounters and in an interest in transversality : decompartimentalize the practices. The context : a country which follows the model on the new international economic order and which will thus certainly loose in the coming years a significant amount of the know-how held by its unique craftsmen. Can we help to safeguard these know-hows and induce new habits in this ephemeral moment? This crack in time allows the experimentation with various know-hows with glass, wood, iron, wax, ceramic… fab• imagines itself as a place and an utopia link. In 2002, fab• will open several projects around 3 materials favouring at times durable material at others ephemeral or perishable materials. glassfab• a collection dedicated to glass. waxfab• a collection dedicated to wax. soapfab• a collection dedicated to soap.
